ALASTAIR LUKIES CBE
Alastair Lukies has a proven track record of turning visions and concepts into real businesses. He founded Monitise in 2003 and three years later it was recognised as a ‘Technology Pioneer’ by the World Economic Forum. Lukies remained Chief Executive of Monitise for 12 years until June 2014 when he brought in Visa President, Elizabeth Buse to run the company.
In 2014, he was appointed as a Business Ambassador for the financial services industry by the UK Government, and was named Chairman of the FinTech industry membership body, Innovate Finance, at its launch in 2014. Innovate Finance is a convening force for the FinTech ecosystem in the UK and internationally, and boasts 250 members to date. Lukies was also awarded a CBE in 2014 for his services to charity and mobile money.
Lukies was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2011 Growing Business Awards. Prior to conceiving, financing and successfully building Monitise, he was a co-founder of epolitix.com, the portal for Westminster, Whitehall and the devolved institutions.
